Boca 45 starts new club night in Bristol with Guardian Honours!

February 27, 2012 in Uncategorized

Vinyl’s stubborn refusal to die is one of the more surprising (and gratifying) outcomes of the many revolutions that have overtaken the music industry in recent years. Its ability to survive, nay thrive, is celebrated this Friday with a new monthly night in the south-west dedicated solely to the 7-inch version of this much-loved format. Resident and host Scott “Boca 45” Hendy will be expanding from his usual breaks, soul and hip-hop agenda to play anything from disco, 50s rhythm’n’blues, ska, 70s funk, dub reggae and rock. Each month, a special guest will be helping Hendy out, and the first is PJ Harvey’s producer, band member and collaborator John Parish. This is a rare chance indeed to see John dust off his vinyl collection and showcase the music that inspired a colourful and eventful 30-year musical career. It all takes place in the Thunderbolt, a homely pub-cum-live music venue, which should help generate the required jukebox house party spirit.

The Thunderbolt, Bath Road, Fri 2nd of March
