The following Monday on the 23rd of July sees the release of the Tom Eno Remix album…. Newsflash! Tom Eno reached number one in the Juno chart and his other project Mountain Folk featured on the Sound of Copenhagen Volume 9.Â
2012 has become a prolific year for British based guitarist Thomas Eno . Firstly his second album Jackknife was released in February to critical acclaim. Picking up plays on Radio 1,2 and 6 from the likes of Lamacq to Da Bank. His new project Mountain Folk with Danish producer Rene Kirkengaard is out in May. Mr Eno is no slouch, bubbling under his projects with Mr James Bright and Rene has been a host of remixes for a number of different artists. Some have been part of the Jack to Phono label others have been swaps with a number of European producers. Tom Eno Projects and works starts with fellow Hampshire muscian Polly Wood on their version of the JJ Cale classic Tijuana. Brighton based producer Black Grass gives us a hand with this one. The original of this track was chosen for a Hotel Costes compilation.
As well as Black Grass, contributions from German Jazz producers Dusty of Jazz & Milk, Renegades of Jazz and Mr Confuse all appear, along with Sunday Best producer Fear of Theydon. More remarkable than all of that is the sheer musical genre cross over of the Tom Eno remixes in the package. As well as the producers already mentioned Tom has taken on remix projects that encompass Indie to Folk to Hip Hop. He has worked with The Seal Cub Clubbing Club , award winning band and 6 music favourites from the Wirral and also BBC Introducing favourites Bird from Liverpool, remixing Indie and Folk. Buy it here
